The term mass medoa refers to forms of communcation that reach large audiences.  The mass media are a central part of life in modern societies.  Many of us wake up to the radio in the morning, listen to music on our iPod on the bus, surf the internet at lunch time or watch television in evening.  In this way, most people come across the mass media on a daily basis.  In fact, it would probably be almost impossible to avoid the media completely.
